this is a response-based roleplay blog: meaning I will not continue to write memes & starters for people who repeatedly do not give me feedback, reply, etc. it is very disheartening to write meme responses & starters & receive zero acknowledgement in character or out of for them from the people they’re written for. it has happened far too many times.I appreciate discussion between writers about what a meme response may have meant, how their character reacted to what was done in said response, any kind of feedback to move the plot or dynamic along. . . but most of the time, I put my time & effort into writing them, get excited about how they may continue & then that’s that.if i have written multiple in-character interactions with you & have received nothing back, I will drop the dynamic until I am no longer the only one putting in the work. if you have a hard time following through, please do us both a favor & do not follow this blog.

when writing with my partners, I like to have something to bounce off from: this does not always mean dialogue, but rather character dialogue or inner monologue. I cannot write an authentic reply if I cannot connect. chances are, if I have dropped a reply, it is because I do not feel I have been given enough to work with.I will no longer be posting starter calls. it is a waste of my time, since I put effort into writing 10+ & if i'm lucky, I will get one response. i'm tired.that being said, I will write individual starters with people who have actual intentions of writing with me.

inej grew up traveling around ravka in suli caravans & performing acrobatics with her family. as a young child, her father began teaching her the instincts of a true suli acrobat – learning to fall before even taking her first steps, & learning to walk a high wire soon after. her aptitude impressed many, surpassing her cousins and even her father with the skills obtained. inej became more comfortable on the high wire than even other members of her family & loved the freedom of walking in the air.
unfortunately, that precious feeling of freedom was taken abruptly when, at fourteen years of age, she was kidnapped while camped on the west coast of ravka near the major city of os kervo, where the caravan had been performing in the summer carnival.
awakened from her sleep, she was taken from her family’s wagon by slavers early one morning & hauled across the true sea to the land of kerch, where she was then sold to tante heleen, the owner of a pleasure house in ketterdam, where she was forced to work in the menagerie as an indenture with a new name affixed to her identity: the exotic lynx.
it was at the menagerie the following year that she was fated to meet kaz brekker, who'd come to purchase information from heleen. on impulse, she offered to help him. when he walked away, she assumed he'd rejected her offer; instead, he returned the next day and purchased her indenture. he offered her a choice; she could leave with him and join the dregs or she could stay on at the menagerie. unsurprisingly, as she'd already attempted to run away from the menagerie once & failed, she chose the dregs.
it wasn't long before she became kaz's best "spider" and the closest thing he had to a confidant, and it was he who nicknamed her the wraith, saying that every team had spiders, she was something more.
she continued to be allied with the dregs until an opportunity arose that was unpassable: a dangerous heist, promising riches that would allow her to escape ketterdam: for what she had dreams would be for good — if she survived.
SKILLSETS .
→ EXPERT STEALTH :even before her time in the dregs, inej possessed the ability to go undetected: a trait picked up on by the bastard of the barrel immediately on the night they met. It lead to her liberation.
→ EXPERT GYMNAST :growing up, learning acrobatics became like second nature to her. she was learning how to fall before she learned how to walk, and very soon after her father began instructing her on a highlow line, a skill she only perfected with years. because of her upbringing, she's blessed with excellent climbing skills, agility, and body coordination.
→ LOCKPICKING :taught by kaz brekker himself, it was one of the first skills she had acquired when starting out in the dregs as his wraith, and has come in handy many an occasion since.
EQUIPMENT .
→ KNIVES :inej carries at least six daggers at all times, all named for the saints she believes in: ==sankt petyr== on her right, her first blade and a gift from kaz. ==sankta alina==, a knife with a bone handle on the left. ==sankta marya== and ==sankta anastasia== are on her thighs, ==sankt vladimir== in one of her boots, and ==sankta lizabeta*==, a beautiful knife adorned with rose engravings, on her belt.
→ WRAITH VESTMENTS :she wears breeches, a hooded tunic, and quilted vests in dark colors as well as special custom made fabrikated slippers to allow for better traction on most surfaces. she carries brass knuckles in a pocket on her right hip, climbing spikes, and pads on her knees for crawling and climbing. the pads also hide blades that are activated by a trigger on her ankles.
→ THE WRAITH :gifted by kaz brekker at the end of the duology, this particular wraith is a midsized warship purchased from wylan van eck / hendricks. when docked in fifth harbor, the ship can be found nestled into berth 22.
